The Sloth hangs Up His Boots!
It is a sad day for the club today, as Strollers stalwart Steve 'The Sloth' Brine, played his last session at the club. A member since the early days, when he moved from Netherton Walkers to become a Stroller, Steve is reluctantly stepping away due to recurring injuries, and longer recovery times. To mark the occasion, the club presented Steve with a ball, signed by many of the members that have played alongside him over the years. The club and all the members wish Steve the

Another final for Strollers!
So close… Today Stamford Strollers 50s were in action again at Heacham’s tournament, played in nearby Hunstanton. A no-show from another team meant a change of format, going from two groups to one. Our day started with a goalless draw with Heacham who barely entered our half. However, we could not convert any of the numerous chances we created. It was a similar story against Hampton Utd although they did muster the odd attack. James McAdie’s goal against Peterborough All Star

Defib Tournament 2026
Defib Tournament 2026 Our 50s couldn’t emulate the exploits of the 60s by winning a trophy today but we had fun. We were up in sunny (sometimes) Cleethorpes for the Defib Tournament - organised by Dave Bent to raise money to purchase and distribute portable defibrillators. We lost our first game 2-0 after a disastrous start against a strong side. We were very disjointed but sorted things out considerably in the second game which we won 3-0 against Appleby Frodingham. Strollers 60+ Win Rushden Tournament
Stamford Strollers travelled to the summer Rushden tournament with what, on paper, looked to be a very strong 60+ and it wasn’t long before the squad delivered on the promise. Cruising their way through the league stage with five wins and a draw, the lads lifted the trophy in the final to bring the silverware back to Stamford. League Phase: With a late withdrawal from the competition, the format was modified to a single league of seven teams, followed by a final between the t

PDFL Championship Winners
The final day of the season. For the Social experiment in League One, another two games, and another new combination of players. They started off by doubling their points total for the season in a 3-3 draw with Hampton Utd. A returning Phil Hall galvanised the guys and proved influential in both games. An hour later there was a narrow 1-0 loss to Harborough Hornets Green who finished runners-up. Jason Fullman returned to competitive action (in goal) just 10 weeks after a knee

PDFL MD8 26/4
PDFL Matchday 8 League One The Socials continued their competitive football odyssey with another two games full of endeavour, and team spirit. This month saw Martin Kernan playing in goal after several good showings at recent social sessions. Martin was my man of the match against Harborough after a string of top saves kept the score to 0-1 at half time. Top of the division Harborough were rattled: arguing among themselves and the referee. The second half began with an early

PDFL Matchday 7
In League One, Strollers Social had the unenviable task of competing in their first game with a player less thanks to me stealing Jon Steers to play in the Championship. The result was an 8-0 defeat. They also started their second game short but their opponents, Huntingdon, very sportingly withdrew a player until they could go to full strength. Some crucial saves from stand-in ‘keeper Chris Sweeney meant there was only a goal in it at half time but Huntingdon eventually overp
