Lincs FA 26/27 70+ Matchday 1
Our 70+ are looking for their first points of the season after falling short on the opening day of the 26/27 Lincs FA 70+ league.
Despite working hard, and remaining competitive throughout, the guys came away pointless from the opening three games.
Strollers 1:2 Lincoln City
Frank Smith scored an excellent goal in our opening game in the league, turning the defender before chipping the ball over the keeper from the edge of the area. It wasn’t enough though as Lincoln popped in two to win the game.
Strollers 1:2 Grimsby Ancient Mariners
Another game where despite hard work and a well finished strike from Alf Tapscott and with intelligent play from fellow midfielder Tim Marsden, our guys went down by the odd goal, this time a penalty for encroachment in the area. This was unfortunate as the Stroller debutant keeper Jack Little had already made a good save from an earlier penalty.
Strollers 0:2 Grimsby Corinthians
Always a tough game on the card against a strong Grimsby side. The North Lincs outfit soon got their noses in front and when they double their lead shortly afterward it looked like all was done. Our lads rallied somewhat though and created a number of chances of their own, with Bob Lear feeding Frank Smith down the right wing on numerous occasions. Their hard work finally resulted in a fourth running offence by the Grimsby team, but Smith’s penalty was well saved by the keeper when he had looked beaten, lifting an arm to pop the shot over the bar.
