Game 1 V Brackley, From the kick off Strollers were forced onto the back foot by Brackley who knocked the ball about well. However, good defending from Tony Laughton, Dave Guest and Tim Marsden and good goalkeeping from Kevin Chadwick ensured Strollers kept a clean sheet. Two cracking finishes from Steve Bones on the break gave Strollers a 2-0 win.

Game 2 V Stratford Town, Strollers dominated possession in this one and a fine long range effort from Dave Guest gave Strollers the lead. However, shortly after his goal Guest pulled up with a calf injury which unfortunately forced him off. Despite playing with 5 Strollers held on to record a 1-0 win.

Game 3 V Moulton Masters, It was Taff Lovesey who gave Strollers the lead in this one, scoring from a tight angle. Moulton managed to equalise following Steve Bones’ blue card 1-1.

Game 4 V Corby United, Bones scored from the penalty spot, following a Dogso challenge on Lovesey as he weaved his way through the Corby defence. Another 1-0 win.

Game 5 V Rushden & Diamonds, Strollers controlled this one from the start, Bones scoring, his 33rd goal of the season, from close range as the keeper could only parry a Lovesey snap shot. Lovesey grabbed the second, cutting in from the left to curl his shot right footed into the far corner of the net. Another 2-0 win.

Game 6 V Norwich Soca, although Norwich fielded a number of England players Strollers were able to match their opponents for the majority of the game. However, it was Norwich who created, and finished, the only clear cut chance of the game. 0-1.

Game 7 V Northampton Town, a tight game saw few clear cut chances for either side. A blue card for Bones saw Strollers reduced to 5 for a third time, once again Strollers were able to keep a clean sheet and earn a 0-0 draw.

So at the end of the league stage Strollers topped the table with 13 points.

This gave Strollers a semi V Moulton. In an end to end game it was Strollers who gained the upper hand when a Moulton player was blue carded for dragging down Bones when through on goal. Unfortunately Strollers failed to capitalise on the advantage of playing against 5 men, and it was Moulton who grabbed the only goal of the game to advance to the final.

Overall a good day for Strollers 8 games, 4 wins, 2 draws, 2 defeats, 7 goals for, 3 goals against and 2 blue cards!
