Strollers 2 Oakham 1 Friendly Match - All Ages

A really close game was played out tonight at Borderville between Stamford Strollers and Oakham over 3 x 20mins period. A brief match report below:

Oakham played the better football in the first 20mins and a smart interchange between their players allowed Mark Vallerius to score with a powerful shot.

During the 2nd 20mins, Stamford began to apply pressure resulting in an Oakham defender entering the penalty area and Frank Smith converted the penalty with a low drive in to the corner.

In the very early stages of the 3rd period a collision between Simon Round & Richard Cartwright (both playing for Strollers) resulted in poor Simon having to leave the field. Stamford continued to build pressure, whilst having to defend well as Oakham looked to attack on the break. Some great vision from Robin Brookes resulted in a cracking ball through to Richard Cartwright who shot from an acute angle - and managed to find the net. During the final 9 mins Strollers had to absorb pressure from Oakham as they pushed for the equaliser, with Robin Gosling (GK) having to make some smart saves throughout the game.
