League One

The Socials continued their competitive football odyssey with another two games full of endeavour, and team spirit. This month saw Martin Kernan playing in goal after several good showings at recent social sessions. Martin was my man of the match against Harborough after a string of top saves kept the score to 0-1 at half time. Top of the division Harborough were rattled: arguing among themselves and the referee. The second half began with an early goal for Harborough who relaxed while Strollers Social began to tire. Final score 0-7 but without Martin it could have been double that. The team still had some good passages of play and created some half chances.

In the preceding game, Strollers Social succumbed to South Lincs Steelers 0-2. Martin was busy in this one too. Again the Socials played some good football at times and forced some saves from the opposition goalkeeper.

The Championship

Strollers continued to push for the title with two more wins. Jason Addison made his debut in a 2-1 defeat of Oakham with goals from Merryn and Nigel. Against Leverington, Matt opened the scoring after going close several times and Nigel capped the win with another goal. Not as close a game as 2-0 suggests as we never looked like conceding. All to play for next month when we take on Harborough then Glinton & Northborough.
