Over 60s Lincs League 19 November 2025

Match day 1 of the Over 60s Lincs League 25/26 saw Stamford 60s make the long trek north to Clee Fields Grimsby. With 8 players unavailable, out of a squad 14, Strollers travelled with the following team of 6:

In wet and windy conditions Strollers played 3 games:

Stamford 1 Grimsby Ancient Mariners 0

In a game that Strollers controlled for long periods Kevin Chadwick in goal was mostly untested. At the other end Stamford created a number of opportunities, and it was no surprise when Alan Cook got on the end of a flowing move to finish expertly and high into the far corner of the GAM net.

Stamford 0 Grimsby Corinthians 0

This game was a far more even affair with chances few and far between for both sides. Any attempts on the Strollers goal were comfortably dealt with by Kevin Chadwick. Going forward Stamford kept the ball well but were unable to create enough chances.

Stamford 0 Boston United 1

As usual this was a very tight and competitive match against our local rivals. With both sides cancelling each other out a back pass wrong footed Chadwick in Strollers goal and he fell awkwardly on his knee. Shortly afterwards a shot from distance beat the limping  Stamford goalie to give Boston the lead. Strollers responded well and dominated much of the second half but couldn’t find a way through a resolute Boston defence.

Overall Strollers were competitive throughout and played some good football against 3 good sides in difficult conditions.
