STROLLERS WIN LEAGUE IN STYLE by 10 Points!

Today's Match day squad was: Bill Whittle GK, Chris Keirl, Graham Curry, Paul Beard (c), Will Barrett, Bill Heath, Steve Adcock.

The final 2 games of the League season were against our old friends from Oakham and an in improving Hucknall WF team.

Strollers v Oakham:

(Fyi Oakham had been hit by Covid and guest players from Stamford (Phil Hall & Jez Norris) were helping them out to fulfil their final 2 fixtures.)

A bright start from Stamford as they went looking for the early goal.

Stamford began to build and with some neat passing enabled Steve to convert followed by a 2nd to put the Strollers 2 up.

Then a deflected shot from Graham (the birthday boy) finding the Oakham net ( I am assured by Graham it was going in anyway!).

Oakham worked hard to find a shooting opportunity but the Stamford defence were giving nothing away.

Strollers were able to create another chance and Steve completed his hat trick.

Strollers win 4-0.

Strollers v Hucknall WF.

Both teams started well looking for opportunities to make a breakthrough. As Stamford continued to press and play hi-tempo football this resulted in an early goal for Steve.

Hucknall were working hard to try and find a way around the Stamford defence with a half chance resulted in a great save from Bill.

A quick break, some neat passing and Steve bags a 2nd mid way through the first half from an unselfish pass from Paul (author!).

Chris stepped forward on to a smart layoff to place the ball in the net to make it 3-0 at half time.

The second half Stamford managed to grab 4th with Steve getting his 2nd hat-trick of the day.

Some pressure on the penalty area from Hucknall resulted in a penalty. Thankfully a smart save from Bill in goals ensured he kept another clean sheet. Just before the finish Will grabbed a well deserved for Stamford's and the Strollers 5th.

Stamford win 5 - 0.

Strollers Top Scorers were Steve Adcock (14) & Will Barrett (9) and as mentioned only 2 goals against us with Bill Whittle in goals keeping 8 Clean sheets!

A real team effort throughout the season with all outfield Strollers players scoring during the season. This helped ensured we secured the final 2 important victories to make Stamford Strollers League Champions 🏆.

Due to Covid, the presentation of the Cup & Medals has been postponed until the 1st Feb 2021 at the Midlands Cup match day.
