With a number of players unavailable from the previous match day at Holbeach Alf Tapscott and Colin Barrett came into the squad to make their debuts for the Over 60s in the Lincs League. They were joined by Dave Moore who made his debut in goal. Paul Beard and John Hutchins made welcome returns to the squad, leaving Dave Kelby and Tim Marsden as the only survivors from Holbeach.
Strollers 0:0 Lincoln Invictus First up for Strollers were Lincoln Invictus. In a game of few clear cut chances Strollers played well defensively and Dave Moore was able to record a clean sheet in a goalless draw.
Strollers 2:1 Grimsby Corinthians Next up were Grimsby Corinthians. Again Strollers looked sound in defence but were also able to make progress going forward and Alf Tapscott finished well to give Strollers the lead at half time. Second half Grimsby pushed Strollers back and were able to level the scores. With time running out Dave Kelby played a fine through ball which found Tim Marsden in space who was able to finish low and hard to give Strollers a 2 – 1 win.
Strollers 0:2 Boston Utd The third game of the day was against table toppers Boston Utd. Strollers worked hard to keep a confident Boston at bay and the first half ended 0 – 0. Second half Boston piled on the pressure and scored a couple of goals to beat Strollers 2 – 0.
