Strollers 1:0 Grimsby Ancient Mariners Glover (Barrett)
Strollers 0:0 Long Bennington
Strollers 1:3 Grimsby Corinthians Blue (Humphries)
Going into the start of todays games, our 60+A squad knew that three wins would provide the nine points needed to take the Premiership title.
The day started well with a well deserved win against Grimsby Ancient Mariners with Taff Lovesey feeding in Colin Barrett for the games only goal.
Sadly we fell at the next hurdle against old rivals Long Bennington, mainly thanks to some superb goalkeeping from their keeper. Despite playing some excellent pas and move football and creating multiple chances, we were unable to break down the Long Bennington defence and keeper.
This brought up a match against 3rd place Corinthians with the winners aware that they would be runners up in the league. This was a very tight game with chances created at both ends. Man of the Match was sometimes Stroller Stuart Gardner in the net for Corinthians with half a dozen top class saves. Paul Humphries notched a well take goal but despite battling to the end we could not pull the game back after falling 2-0 behind.
These results meant that we finished the season in 3rd place in the league.
