Premiership:
Match day 4 of the Over 60s Lincs League saw Strollers make the long journey up to the Bradley Football Development Centre Grimsby.
Strollers faced Lincoln Invictus first and deservedly recorded a 1 – 0 win with Tim Marsden scoring the only goal. Strollers W1-0
Next up were Grimsby Corinthians who were expected to provide a sterner test. Indeed Corinthians took an early lead, undaunted Stamford plugged away and goals from Taff Lovesey and Dave Kelby earned Stamford a hard fought victory. Strollers W2-1
The last game of the day was against table toppers Boston United. Again Strollers worked hard and pushed Boston all the way, but it was Boston who produced the best move and finish of the game to beat Stamford 1 – 0. Strollers L0-1
Overall it was a good day for Strollers who produced 3 very good performances, solid in defence, competitive in midfield, creative going forward and Tony Fisher excellent in goal. After 12 games played Stamford have won 5, drawn 2 and lost 5, which when considering Strollers lost the first 3 league games of the season shows good progress.
The squad for the North Lincolnshire trip was:
Tony Fisher
Paul Beard
Taff Lovesey
Dave Kelby
Alf Tapscot
Colin Barrett
Tim Marsden
Championship:
Our B squad had a day to forget as they struggled to find their usual passing game. As a result they failed to notch up any points and created little in front of goal. The saaud will be looking to bounce back from this performance next matchday.
