Bill Heath made his debut today for Strollers and showed he will fit in well with the Strollers team.
Strollers 3 v 0 Lincoln Invictus Gold
A slow start by Strollers as we struggled to put some quality passes together, partly due to a good defensive & goalkeeping performance by Lincoln. Eventually we managed a goal thanks to Glyn “The Slipper” Williams whose shot managed to squeeze past the goalie. In the second half Strollers found their feet and 2 further goals by Steve Adcock ensured Strollers had a comfortable win 3-0.
Strollers 0 v 0 Grimsby Corinthians
As expected this was a much stiffer test for Strollers. With both sides ideally wanting to win – but not wanting to lose, quality chances were few in the first half. Bill Whittle in goals for Strollers making a number of excellent saves to keep the score 0-0 at half time. In the second half Stamford probably had the better half, with a couple of half chances falling to Steve, one saved well and a volley on the turn “flew” past the far post. Overall a fair result and a great performance from both sides. 0-0 draw.
Strollers 6 v 0 South Lincs Steelers
After a 25 min rest and one of Mrs H’s sausage rolls - MORE please Mrs H! Strollers had the livelier start. It clearly had the desired effect as John Hutchins hit a screamer on the half volley which flew in to the top corner – only for it be disallowed for Running (correctly). Bill Heath had a shot slide past the post and so “The Slipper” came to our rescue and lead the way with a turn and a “9 iron chip” in to the top corner! I was told not to mention the Penalty goal disallowed for 2 steps (correct decision btw so we will move on!).
Just before half time after some neat passing Chris Keirl hit a shot in to the corner for a half time lead 2-0.
Steve Adcock & Paul Beard came on for the second half with Adcock quickly grabbing a hat-trick and Tim Marsden scoring, making it 6-0 to Strollers at the end.
Overall 3 great performances, No goals conceded and MOM to Bill Whittle for keeping brilliantly in all games.
