This was the second month of the Lincs League at Elsea Park this morning. Only 2 games today.

The Matchday Squad was made up of:
Bill Whittle GK, Chris Keirl, John Hutchins, Glyn Williams, Paul Edward Beard, Steve Adcock & Bob Lear.
Strollers first game was against Gainsborough Trinity Blue.
A bright start resulted in some good interplay and pressure immediately on the Gainsborough goal. Strollers kept pressing and a great cross from Steve for Glyn to smartly shoot in to the net. Steve A claimed the next with a snap shot that GK saved only for it to ricochet back off the defender in to the net (Steve assured me it was his goal and not an OG – who am I to argue!).
Gainsborough developed a couple of chances smartly saved by Bill and did create a few opportunities which Chris and John managed well in defence. "Honest" John with a great “set up” for Chris with our 3rd as he placed the ball from distance pasted the Gainsborough GK. Strollers looked to protect their lead during the second half & Bob had a run out as Strollers looked to work on the break and pressing the Gainsborough defence. Pressure told with Paul managing to intercept a pass and finish the chance off.
Final score: Stamford Strollers 4 – 0 Gainsborough Blue.
Strollers second game was against Grimsby Ancient Mariners Mac. Another bright start with some good passing by Strollers. A repeat of our first goal in game 1, with Steve crossing for Glyn to hit the back of the net. Grimsby were struggling with our movement, but also creating their own chances as well -thankfully Steve was finding space upfront and quickly added a 2nd and then 3rd to the score making it 3-0 at half time. Some good interchanges by both teams meant Strollers needed to be careful in defence. Pressing Grimsby when they had the ball, and some good passing with a through ball allowing Paul to finish off a chance. Bob replaced Glyn & became our new striker causing a distraction upfront! This allowed Steve to receive the ball slightly deeper and complete his hat-trick with a shot in the corner to make it 5-0. Grimsby continued to work hard and compete well. A smart angled cross and a first time finish bagged the fifth.
Final score: Stamford Strollers 5 – 1 Grimsby AM
Two really good team performances by Stamford Strollers played in the right spirit against two friendly competitive teams - thanks to Gainsborough Blue & Grimsby Ancient Mariners.
