On behalf of Stamford AFC Strollers a massive thanks to all who attended, including the Refs; Stuart James, Mick Hill, Dave Bent, Marcus Chamberlain & Chris Ackers & all the Volunteers who made the Jan Barrett-Treen Memorial Trophy such a success on Sunday.

Thanks also to the 16 teams who took part, including 2 Strollers team - 1 in each League managed by Paul Newiss and Steve Bavage-Crowson.

A big shout out to all players  who attended with some travelling 2 hours each way to take part.

Finally a huge thank you to Colin Barrett-Treen  for all his efforts to ensure the Jan Barrett-Treen Memorial Trophy was such a great day.

Stamford Reds:

Squad: Paul Beard, Nigel Reeve, J T Thompson, Colin Barrett-Treen, Paul Newis (capt), Jez Norris, Tim Marsden, Dave Moore, Paul Giffen, James Edey

What an exciting day for the Stamford Strollers lads who participated in the Jan Barrett-Treen memorial trophy at Borderville! With 16 very strong teams divided into 2 leagues of 8, the Strollers Reds emerged as the top team in Group A, securing 6 wins and 1 draw.

Their journey continued with a quarter-final victory over Oakham, winning 2-0 in a highly impressive display. In the semifinals, they faced a formidable Deeping Rangers team and secured a 1-0 win. Finally, in the thrilling final, the Strollers played against their old friends, the Sleaford Academicals.

JT gave the Strollers a 1-0 lead, but Nick Hunter equalized with a powerful shot. With just a minute remaining, the Strollers committed a fourth running offense, resulting in a penalty. Nick Hunter stepped up to take the penalty, aiming for the right-hand side, but Dave Moore made a magnificent save. The match went to a penalty shootout, where Jez Norris scored the first goal, and Dave Moore stopped all three shots, leading the Strollers to a 1-0 victory on penalties.

A fantastic achievement for the Strollers, and a well-deserved trophy in honor of Jan Barrett Treen! 👏🏆👏🏆👏🏆

Stamford Scarlets:

Squad: Brian Dunkerley, Darryl Vaus, Greg Pogonowski, Jez Hammant, Patrick McGinn, Rich Talby, Simon Round, Steve Bavage-Crowson (capt)

Results:

Scarlets 0-1 Harboro Hornets 2nd

Scarlets 0-3 Oakham WF

Scarlets 0-2 N'hampton Town WF,

Scarlets 0-1 Boston Utd Blues,

Scarlets 0-4 Sleaford Academicals,

Scarlets 0-3 Yaxley WF,

Scarlets 0-5 Deeping Rangers WF

This was the 1st time that this squad had played together, I, Steve BC, couldn't have been more proud of their achievements, as this was, for some, their 1st venture into the competitive world of WF.

The results didn't do us justice, as some very decent football was played in most matches, & chances were created, it just wasn't our day.

Our best game was v Boston, where we just lost by the single goal & a great penalty save from Bav. By the time the last rounds of matches came along, our energy levels were near empty after a long day competing. The lads did good 👍 👏

Many thanks to Paul Beard, Paul Newiss and Steve Bavage-Crowson for the information in this report.
