Asha Healthcare Midlands Over 65s Matchday 2

Chris Keirl

Strollers record back to back wins to stay 3 points clear at the top.

First up was 2nd in the table Bramcote. Stamford found it difficult to get going with Bramcote setting out to frustrate the league leaders. Despite the referee having to constantly blow up for fouls whenever Strollers attacked and several warnings being given the referee kept his cards in his pocket and the 1st half remained goalless Chris Keirl going closet when he hit the bar.

The deadlock was soon broken in the 2nd half when Nic Poletti playing his 1st competitive game for 6 months after injury opened the scoring with a great strike. Against the run of play Bramcote soon levelled but before they had chance to settle Gerry Monaghan restored the lead for Strollers. Graham Curry soon added a 3rd and Stamford then controlled the game for a 3-1 win.

The 2nd game saw a much more fluent performance from Stamford vs Boston whose England goalkeeper had to pick the ball out of the net 4 times unusually for him! A really good performance from Stamford with goals from Gerry Monaghan 2, David Kelby and Will Barrett sealing a convincing 4-0 win.
