Asha Healthcare Midlands 65+ League MD7

On a scorching summer afternoon, Strollers 65+ took to the pitch for the final two league games in this season’s Asha Healthcare Midlands 65+ League.

Strollers 1 Loughborough 5 (Lovesey)

An awful first half from our lads saw us go into the half time break 3-0 behind, mainly due to poor passing coming out of defensive positions.

We started the second half determined to pull the score back, and switched from 2-2-1 to 1-3-1, but a loose ball in midfield within a few minutes of the restart saw us go 4-0 down.

Digging in, we began to win more possession and create chances of our own. Eventually, the improvement brought results and when Tim Marsden slid a pass in to Taff Lovesey, a sharp turn and well hit shot pulled one back.

Shortly afterwards, the roles were reversed and this time Lovesey set up Marsden who’s finesse shot bounced off the inside of the post.

Despite the improvement in the second half, we were unable to get back into the game and Loughborough scored a late 5th to run out as deserved winners.

Strollers 0 Boston 0

Last game of the season saw us facing up to our rivals and footballing mates, Boston.

As with many games between the two clubs this proved to be a tight game and goalkeepers were on top, so despite chances at both ends, the game finished scoreless.

65+ manager, Taff Lovesey, would like to thank all of the players that have stepped up to represent the club this season. Although we were well off the pack chasing the league, we have always kept our spirits high and enjoyed time together, during and after the matchday games.
