Both Stamford Stroller teams, White and yellow, got off to a good start in Nottingham today in the inaugural WFA Midlands Premier League.
In the first set of matches, the Whites dominated their game against Hucknall but failed to capitalise on their 1-0 lead and were almost pipped back against the run of play. They held on for a good win though.
The Yellows took a while to find their feet having not played together before, and were up against a strong Chilwell team and went down 1-3. In the second match they started slowly and found themselves 4-1 down against Hucknall, but rallied to turn in around in a goal fest, finishing 9-7 victors. Gary Wildsmith knocking in six of those goals.
The next game for Whites brought up old rivals Leicester. Always a bit of a battle and this time the honours went to our lads with a well deserved 3-2 victory in a tight game.
