STROLLERS win league again!!!!
Stamford Strollers finished off the 2022 season with games against the 2nd and 3rd placed teams at the start of play - Alfreton and Bramcote. A great finish to the season with 2 more wins meaning the team not only won the league for the second year running but also had a 100% record - again!
The 1st game saw Strollers off to a slow start not helped by Alfreton constantly breaking up play. Will Barrett broke the deadlock with a good strike for a 1-0 half time lead. In the 2nd half Strollers took control and played some fine football running in a further 4 goals from Bob Wood John Hutchins and Chris Keirl(2). FT 5-0.
The 2nd game was a much closer game with both Bill Whittle and the opposition goalkeeper having outstanding games. A well worked free kick created an opening for Nic Poletti to score to give Strollers a 1-0 half time lead. The 2nd half was pretty even but even though Strollers were reduced to 5 men at one stage they stood firm to see the game out. FT 1-0.
