On a beautiful summer day with a cooling breeze, 44 local players from Stamford, Netherton and Glinton met up at Borderville to honour the memory of Stamford Strollers player, Lewis Tringham who sadly lost his battle with cancer a couple of weeks before.
No fees were asked but players and spectators were asked to donate whtever they felt they could to Lewis' chosen charity, The Sue Ryder Hospice.
It was an excellent and friendly round robin event and played in true walking football spirit. Although on the day results were very much in the background, Stamford B ran out winners of the mini league and were awarded the cup by Tina Tringham, widow of Lewis.
A count up afterwards showed that together we raised £340 for the Hospice - Lewis would have been proud.
