Nottingham ASHA 60+ League Match Day 7 report

report from Gary Wildsmith

Squad:

Gary Wildsmith (capt)

Trevor Oliver (gk)

Bob Lear

Bob Wood

John Hutchins

Colin Barrett-Treen

Will Barrett

Our first game was against Leicester. We set up well and managed to contain our opponents well. A stereotypical pile driver from stalwart Will Barrett settled the nerves. Unfortunately the lead was short lived as Leicester equalised. Gary Wildsmith then restored the advantage. Bob Wood then continued his goal scoring form adding a third in the second half to give Stamford a 3-1 victory.

Our next match was against runaway league leaders Bramcote. Again we set up well and were very organised. Gary Wildsmith managed to contain top scorer Mark Jones from Bramcote. Unfortunately an error by Gary allowed the ball to bobble out of his control to allow a close shot into the goal midway through the second half. This goal proved to be the only goal in the game.

Well played by all concerned and probably the best we’ve played in this competition so far.
