ChromaSport PDFL WF League - Matchday 3

Peterborough WF League 24th Nov

Stamford Reds

Report from skipper Scott Sawers

Stamford Reds 11 v 1 Whittlesey

A clinical performance from the reds against a less mobile opposition, but played with the respect the game deserves. Goals from Colin (5), Scott (4), Lee and Grahame.

Stamford Reds 0 v Boston 1

An excellent performance against an extremely strong, well organised and competitve side who sit top of the league and most definitely 'in it to win it'. A great game, very competitve but played in the true spirit of WF. The game decided by a deflected strike, with both sides missing good chances and goalkeepers in fine form. Disappointing for the Reds but you could hear the sign of relief from Boston at the final whistle.

Stamford Whites

report from skipper Will Barrett

Disappointing morning result wise for Stamford Whites.

Boston 1 Whites 0.

The game seemed to be a stop / start and both sides were picked for running. When the game settled, both sides seemed to cancel each other out. We discussed tactics before the game started and we played a more containing game, but taking our chances when they came. Unfortunately, a loose ball across the pitch was intercepted resulting in Boston scoring. Undeterred, we continued to stifle Boston and pushing forward ourselves. As usual, Danny Tempest was on good form pulling off some very good saves. With substitutions made at half-time we continued to press for an equaliser. Just as in the first half, Danny kept his goal intact. Though we lost, it was a good overall team performance.

Kings Cliffe 4 Whites 2 (W.Barrett x2).

We started off well, attacking from the off. Their keeper saving numerous shots with various parts of his body. They then scored from the limited chances they had. Undeterred we continued to play our game, again their keeper denied us. In the second half we made changes and continued to press forward.Against the run of play they scored a second. We managed to pull one back to make it 2 - 1. Unfortunately they got two quick goals. Despite getting another goal we couldn't claw back the deficit. What shots not saved by the keeper only narrowly missed the target. Again, apart from the result it was in general a good performance.
