Stamford were without Graham Curry who was injured on Sunday playing for England so Brian Dunkerley came into the squad for the 1st time.

Boston had most of the possession in the opening 5 minutes but once Stamford settled we took control with 2 fine strikes from Gerry Monaghan giving us a 2-0 half time lead. Will Barrett added a 3rd early in the second half and Stamford then managed the game out for a 3-0 win.

In the 2nd game Kimberley played for a draw from the off with their keeper having more of the ball from pass backs and saves than the rest of the 11 players on the pitch. But Stamford couldn’t find the elusive break through. Half time 0-0. In the second half Stamford got the goals their dominance deserved with Will Barrett breaking the deadlock and further goals from Chris Keirl(penalty) and Gerry Monaghan meant we ran out 3-0 winners.

A good all round team performance with Bill Whittle now having 5 clean sheets from 6 games,John Hutchins leading the side well and as solid as ever and Frank Smith and Brian Dunkerley both playing a full part in the day’s wins.

The matchday squad was:-

  • Bill Whittle

  • John Hutchins(capt)

  • Gerry Monaghan

  • Will Barrett

  • Frank Smith

  • Brian Dunkerley

  • Chris Keirl
