Strollers Over 65s Derbyshire Walking Football League MD5

The squad for match day 6 of the Derbyshire Walking Football League was:

Our first match of the day was against Matlock. In a tight match, chances were few and far between. Despite having the lions share of possession Strollers couldn’t find a way past the Matlock goalie. 0-0

Next up was Etwall, although Strollers had more possession than their opponents they again couldn’t find the back of the net. Etwall defended well and caught Stamford on the break to snatch a 1-0 Etwall win.

Third game of the day was against Heanor. Strollers again were fairly dominant in terms of possession and 2 fine finishes from Paul Humphries, ably assisted by Taff Lovesey, gave Stamford a deserved 2-0 victory.

The fourth game of the day was against table toppers  Ashbourne. In a very tight and competitive game defences were very much on top and it was no surprise that the outcome was a scoreless draw 0-0.

The penultimate game of the day was against old rivals Boston. In another tight and even game Boston found a great finish to claim the bragging rights with a 1-0 win.

Last game of the day was against Derby County, Strollers dominated possession but again struggled to turn their control of the game into goals, another 0-0 the result.

Despite playing some good possession football it was overall a dissapointing day for Strollers, 1 win, 3 draws and 2 defeats means Stamford slip down the table to third behind Ashbourne and Boston, with 1 match day to play.
