Strollers 65+ Qualify for the Semi Finals

Stamford Strollers 65+ safely negotiated their way through to Finals Day of the AshaHealthcare Midlands Cup with 2 wins.

So Stamford group winners and Bramcote 2nd.

Group B

Alfreton 2 Oakham 2

Oakham 0 Boston 4

Boston 0 Alfreton 0

So Boston group winners and Alfreton 2nd

An early goal from Will Barrett meant Kimberley had to come out from their usual defensive formation.Stamford struggled to find their rhythm and Bill Whittle made an excellent save to keep the score 1-0 at half time. In the 2nd half Stamford took control and ran out comfortable winners with further goals from Will Barrett Gerry Monaghan John Hutchins and Bob Wood for a 5-0 Stamford win.

The 2nd game vs Bramcote was much tighter but it was Stamford creating all the chances and but for some great work by the Bramcote keeper the score line would have been greater. As it was a Gerry Monaghan strike just before half time was the only goal of the game although it needed a worldie of a save to stop a 2nd for the striker. FT 1-0.
