Lads from Stamford and Market Harborough thoroughly enjoyed a friendly round robin in glorious April sunshine. With temperatures unseasonable soaring to the high 20s four teams, two from Stamford, one from MH and a mixed team battled out in a sweaty mini league.
Playing in black to impose themselves psychologically on their opponents, the Stamford over 60s just lost out to the younger over 50 team.
Results were:
Stamford 50s 2 Stamford 60s 1
Mixed Squad 1 MH Hornets 1
Stamford 60s 2 Mixed Squad 1
MH Hornets 1 Stamford 50s 6
Stamford 50s 2 Mixed Squad 0
MH Hornets 0 Stamford 60s 2
Table:
9pts Stamford 50s
6pts Stamford 60s
1pt Mixed Squad
1pt Market Harborough Hornets
Following some recent tournament play that was a little on the 'too serious' side, this mini league reflected what walking football is all about. Fun, fitness and camaraderie.
Special thanks to Guy for his behind the scenes organising and refereeing.
Alistair for refereeing. the lads that stepped up to play on the 'mixed' team and to Bruce for nipping to get the sarnies from Morrison
