Strollers v Hucknall WF. A bright start from Stamford with some neat passing enabled Steve Adcock to convert and put the Strollers ahead. Unfortunately Tim Marsden picked up an injury and had to retire for the day with Will Barrett replacing him. Strollers continued to press and also defended well as Hucknall created a few half chances with Bill Whittle making some good saves. As the second half began Stamford continued to 'press' the Hucknall defence resulting in Paul Beard being able to score from close range. Hucknall were playing some good football and 3 quick passes rewarded them with a well worked goal. The Strollers needed to 'lift' their game and thanks to 2 good finishes from Bill Heath and Steve Adcock, Strollers were able to close the game out. Strollers win 4-1.
Strollers v Chesterfield Spireites. Strollers started well and a great team move of one-touch passes enabled Will Barrett to slot home the first goal. However, Strollers were not having it all their own way as Chesterfield nicked the ball on the halfway line and their striker hit a low shot past our GK. 1 - 1 at half time. As the second half opened up both teams went looking for the next goal. Bill Whittle continued to keep Chesterfield at bay with some great saves as Strollers pressured the Chesterfield defence, another foul on Steve resulted in a Chesterfield player being 'blue' carded. Strollers making use of the extra man alongside some quick interchange passes enabled Will to bag his second of the game. With the clock ticking, Chesterfield were pressing for the equaliser - Chris Keirl & John Hutchins made sure they rarely got sight of the Stamford goal and this left space upfront for Stamford to strike. A quick break by Strollers and Will found the back of the net to complete his hat-trick! Strollers win 3-1.
A real team effort with all Strollers players playing their part in securing 2 very important victories to keep Stamford Strollers 'Top of the League!'
