Matchday 3 saw Strollers play matches 5 and 6 bringing the league season to the half way point.
The opening game was against Oakham. Though not at their best Stamford dominated the game and it was no surprise when David Kelby broke the deadlock and opened the scoring with a fine finish. HT 1-0.
In the 2nd half the pattern was the same and Strollers ran in a further 3 goals from Nic Poletti(2) and Gerry Monaghan. FT 4-0.
The 2nd game saw a top of the table clash with newcomers Matlock who reached last years National Finals. And it was Matlock who came out on top 4-0.
This was Strollers 1st defeat (other than in penalty shoot outs) in over 2 years. Stamford will lick their wounds and come back fighting.
Still top of the table on goal difference and all to play for!
